Blister packaging consists of two main parts: a thermoformed or cold-formed ‘base layer’ and a blister lidding material on-top, that’s typically made from aluminium foil. This aluminium foil, commonly known as ‘blister lidding foil’, is bonded to the undertray; formed from the base layer material, via a process known as ‘heat sealing’. This process creates a secure and protected enclosure for your packaged products.

B-SURE™ Blister Packaging Foils are primarily used in the Pharmaceutical sector. They are also used in the Healthcare and Nutraceutical Sectors in the Blister Packaging UK and EU markets. They are designed for the packaging of hygroscopic (moisture absorbing) products, whose stability would otherwise be compromised by the presence of moisture.

It can also be designed to offer good child resistant / tamper proof performance.

Push-Through Blister Packaging: …This uses hard temper aluminium foil, that allows medication doses to be pushed-through the lidding, via force from underneath. It provides high protection and is often used for child-resistant packaging.

Peel-Open Blister Packaging: …This combines aluminium with a paper backing (or a paper/PET* backing), and allows the lidding to be peeled-off easily for products that need to be accessed without much user force.

Peel-Push Blister Packaging: …This format features layered Paper/PET/Aluminium Foil/Heat Seal Lacquer lidding, allowing for a combination of peeling and pushing to access the medication for products that require an additional layer of protection, before they can be pushed through the foil lid. Essentially, it transforms the opening of the packaging into a two-step process.

Tear-Open Packaging: …In this scenario, the foil is made from Paper/PET/Aluminium Foil/Heat Seal Lacquer, and it is designed to be torn-open to access the contents. This works well for products that need to be accessed quickly and easily, without the need for resealing.
