EUROGEL™ is a form of granular indicating silica gel that changes colour; to demonstrate its saturation level – moving from yellow (dry) to transparent (when saturated). Granular silica gels, are used in preference to beaded gels, where customers need to pack a specific mass of silica gel into a limited space. This can be achieved because EUROGEL™ granules are of irregular shape and size – so pack-in tightly without creating large void spaces in-between themselves (unlike beaded indicating gels).

Indicating Silica Gel Granules
EUROGEL™ is an extremely durable orange silica gel. It’s a synthetic, narrow-pore, amorphous form of silicon dioxide, that is granular in form. The fact that it’s a synthetic form of silica is actually a good thing – because it means that there is no risk of silicosis (a respiratory problem, that is associated with the natural form of silica)
These orange silica gel granules are impregnated with a safe organic indicator. When dry, the granules appear yellow-orange in colour, and when they are saturated with moisture, the granules change to a pale-green colour. This means that the user can easily identify when the EUROGEL™ is exhausted, and when it needs to be replaced.
Those seeking an orange silica gel, but in a (non-granular) beaded format, should consider our range of TRANSFORMAGEL™ desiccants.

EUROGEL™ is used to absorb humidity/moisture from the air, trapping it into its many microscopic pores. This orange silica gel is capable of adsorbing up to 30% of its own weight in water, from the surrounding atmosphere (at 50% RH and 25°C).
Our well-known brand of silica gel is used as a safe replacement for blue indicating silica gel, and it fully complies with European Commission directive 98/98/EC of 15 December 1998 on the regulations and administrative provisions relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous substances.

EUROGEL™ is a granular silica gel that’s widely used in industrial environments where the desiccant (drying agent) needs to be packed tightly into a compact space. The main applications are general drying duties in the Rail, Road and Shipping industries, where it is used to maintain the dryness of air that is used in industrial compressor systems.
If you have ever travelled on a train that has push-button doors, then there is a good chance that your train was using EUROGEL™ to maintain the quality of its compressor system, and the dry air within it.

There is one clear reason why the EUROGEL™ orange silica gel is used in preference to our TRANSFORMAGEL™ silica gel …and it’s all to do with which is the best format for two differing applications.
Format: Here, the important difference to note is that TRANSFORMAGEL™ silica gel is a beaded product and EUROGEL™ is a granular product.
Application: Our beaded product allows air to be free-flowing (through the void-space that exists between the spheres/beads). This is very advantageous, but it comes at the cost of being a lower density form of desiccant. This means that you need more space to accommodate it, and this space (e.g. on moving vehicles) is not always available. In such cases, it’s better to use a granular desiccant such as EUROGEL™ – because 1Kg of this product is more compact, and occupies a far smaller space, compared to 1Kg of the beaded product.
