This Month: Moisture-Proof Packaging for Formula-1
This month, we received an inquiry from a customer with “F1” in their name, seeking a practical and cost-effective solution to protect their cables from moisture during transit. The client needed to ensure that cable connectors remain dry and fully operational for setup before each race, while also maintaining this solution with minimal effort during the demanding race season. The challenge stemmed from their recent shift to sea freighting, which, unlike airfreighting, exposes equipment to higher risks of moisture ingress due to prolonged exposure to humid conditions. Their existing process—manually wiping down each cable after races and using nylon protective socks—was time-consuming and failed to guarantee moisture-free connectors, potentially compromising performance.
To address this, we proposed our SUPERDRYPAK™ Desiccant Sachets, available in two sizes to accommodate different connector dimensions. These sachets are designed to be placed inside the nylon socks after the connectors are wiped down, effectively absorbing residual moisture during transit and preventing further ingress. This ensures the cables arrive at each race location in optimal condition, ready to support critical operations without delay. The sachets’ high-efficiency desiccant formula, with up to 60% desiccant content, provides consistent moisture absorption, maintaining equipment stability and reliability under varying environmental conditions.
To enhance convenience and inventory management, we offered to package the sachets in batches of 100, sealed in our B-SURE Foil with a zip-lock feature. This packaging solution protects unused sachets from premature moisture activation, allowing the client to maintain a ready stock throughout the race season. The zip-lock foil ensures that only the sachets in use are exposed, preserving the effectiveness of the remaining stock and reducing waste. This approach simplifies logistics, enabling the team to focus on race preparations rather than equipment maintenance. Our solution delivers a straightforward, cost-effective way to safeguard equipment, giving the client confidence that their cables will perform reliably at every event. By addressing moisture ingress proactively, we’ve eliminated a potential source of stress for the team.
