Nikhil Dookhy joins Baltimore Innovations as New Business Development Executive
I’m excited to be embarking on my journey at Baltimore Innovations. From my initial conversations with the team, it was clear that this is a business built around problem-solving, curiosity, and helping customers protect products that genuinely matter. That combination of science, practicality, and collaboration is exactly what drew me here.
My background is firmly rooted in life sciences. I’m a fully registered HCPC Biomedical Scientist with over a decade of experience across clinical, laboratory, and commercial-facing environments. I’ve worked in settings where consistency, validation, and traceability aren’t just buzzwords — they’re essential to patient safety and product performance. That grounding shapes how I approach every conversation: understand the real-world risk, then translate it into practical, robust solutions that work in production and stand up to scrutiny. As I’ve been on the lab side myself, I understand what customers need most — solutions that are practical, compliant, and proven.
My role at Baltimore Innovations
As New Business Development Executive, I support customers across our moisture-control packaging portfolio — helping teams choose and implement solutions that protect sensitive products from humidity, oxygen exposure, and transport/storage excursions. I’ll also be focused on developing new opportunities with medical device, diagnostic, and pharmaceutical companies where packaging performance is a competitive advantage.
In practice, this often involves high barrier foil formats including B-SURE™ Barrier Foil Pouches, B-SURE™ Barrier Foil Rolls, and B-SURE™ Blister Foil Packaging — ideal for applications where stability and shelf life depend on controlling moisture ingress.
On the moisture-absorption side, I’ll be advising on when to use SUPERDRYPAK™ Silica Gel Sachets versus SUPERDRYPAK™ Desiccant Canisters, and how these integrate into production lines, kit builds, or outsourced packing through our Contract Packing Services.
Ultimately, the goal is to make moisture control straightforward and reliable: select the right barrier format, choose the right desiccant type and size, and support implementation in ways that fit real-world production environments — not just ideal scenarios.
An energising start to 2026
January has already been an energising start. I’ve begun working on several fascinating projects across multiple sectors, each with its own technical challenges and commercial drivers.
These include supporting diagnostic and IVD packaging projects where reagent performance depends on controlling moisture exposure, advising pharmaceutical customers on packaging strategies for higher-humidity regions, and helping medical device teams think through worst-case transport and storage excursions before they become costly deviations. I’ve also been involved in early-stage discussions around nutraceutical and consumer healthcare packaging, where high-throughput packing, kitting, and practical desiccant insertion are key considerations.
Where science meets implementation
What I enjoy most is working at the intersection of science and implementation — helping customers move from “we think this should be fine” to “we know this is robust.” Whether that means simplifying a specification, validating a second supplier, or optimising an existing product range, my aim is the same: clear, data-led advice that’s easy to act on. Furthermore, I am also keen to support customers as sustainability expectations evolve, including navigating the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and reducing material use and waste where feasible.
In summary, I look forward to building strong, long-term partnerships and supporting projects where moisture control, high-barrier packaging, and desiccant integration aren’t add-ons, but a competitive advantage for medical, diagnostic, and pharmaceutical products — because better never stops.
