As I am sure you are aware, following the Finance Act 2021, the UK Government has implemented the new UK Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) from 1st April 2022. It is designed to reduce plastic waste, increase plastic recycling, and drive innovation in recycling technology.
PPT is paid by the UK company either manufacturing or importing the plastic packaging into the UK. The tax is charged at £200 per tonne (£0.20/kg) on all eligible packaging, which includes plastic packaging products (such as plastic pots or laminated foil bags) AND the packaging around the products (such as plastic liners, moulded plastic void fill, bubble wrap, etc).
Baltimore Innovations takes responsibility for compliance with HRMC’s requirements in relation to PPT for all packaging supplied in the UK. For all eligible products, PPT tax per unit will be shown as a separate line and a detailed breakdown of PPT charges will be provided along with our invoices.
Due to the complexities of the tax, especially regarding the huge range of composite and laminated products supplied by Baltimore Innovations, we have spent the last few months gathering information, referring certain items to HMRC, and updating our systems in order to ensure that our customers are charged correctly and accurately for the products that they purchase. Any customers who have purchased a Plastic-Tax eligible product since 1st April 2022 have now been contacted directly regarding these charges, and all eligible invoices will include the surcharge as standard.
Should you need any further information, please feel free to contact your Baltimore Innovations representative, and they will be happy to help you further…
We thank you for your continued business and support of Baltimore Innovations.
Kind Regards,
Matt
