Zeolite Molecular Sieve Paste

SUPERSIV Zeolite Paste is a specialized form of zeolite molecular sieve that’s formulated into a paste-like consistency:

Composition:

Primary Ingredient: It consists of zeolite molecular sieves, specifically 3A or 4A types. These zeolites are aluminosilicate minerals with a regular pore structure that selectively absorbes molecules based on their size.

Mixing Agent: The zeolite powder is mixed with high-grade castor oil in a 50:50 ratio to form the paste. This mixture helps in dispersing the zeolite effectively, without the need for specialized equipment.

Key Features:

Convenience: Our zeolite paste is designed for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that might not have access to machinery for dispersing fine powders into liquids. The pre-blended paste is easier to handle and integrate into various formulations.

Moisture Scavenger: SUPERSIV Zeolite Paste is used primarily for removing moisture from polyurethane (PU) and polyurea systems, preventing the formation of CO₂ bubbles which can compromise product quality. This is particularly beneficial in coatings, adhesives sealants, and elastomers, where the presence of moisture can lead to unwanted chemical side-reactions.

Eco-Friendly: Our paste is based on non-hazardous zeolites and organic castor oil making it more environmentally friendly compared to some other moisture scavengers like PTSI-based liquids.

Cost-Effectiveness: Although our paste is more expensive than our Zeolite Powder, the “cost per kilo” metric is not where its value lies. Instead, it is better to regard our zeolite paste as a “convenience product” where cost savings are realized in terms of labour-time (saved) and expensive equipment (that isn’t required).

Application:

Target Users: Ideal for smaller manufacturers in the polymer industry. Larger companies, with blending machinery, might prefer the powder form, for cost reasons.

Use Cases: Our zeolite paste is commonly used in industries dealing with polyurethanes, polyaspartics, and polyureas to ensure high-quality, bubble-free products. It helps in achieving better finishes, strength, and performance in products like: adhesives, coatings, and sealants.

Performance:

Effectiveness: 3A SUPERSIV Paste, due to its smaller pore size, is more effective at moisture adsorption compared to the 4A type (although 4A Paste is still used for certain applications or by manufacturers with specific preferences).

SUPERSIV Paste is the best choice of moisture scavenger compared to other forms of Liquid Desiccant, in almost all cases, apart from one (minor) use-case scenario:

Three Advantages:

Compared to Liquid Desiccants, our Zeolite Paste is less expensive per kilo of finished formula

Compared to Liquid Desiccants, our Zeolite Paste is more environmentally friendly and easier to dispose of.

Compared to Liquid Desiccants, our Zeolite Paste is less hazardous for your workers to use.

One Disadvantage:

Compared to Liquid Desiccants, we do not recommend using our zeolite paste in 2KPU formulations, that require absolute ‘glass-like’ transparency as the fine particles of zeolite can cause “hazing” of the translucence.

That said, if your coating, adhesive, or sealant has any form of colour (and is not required to be ‘transparent’) then we strongly recommend using SUPERSIV Paste relative to other Liquid Desiccants, as it is less expensive, less hazardous, and more environmentally friendly.
